The Little Jean Skirt..what?

I've been meaning to write about this subject for just a little while now. I really don't want to offend anyone but this just has to be said.  If you are under the age of thirty, attend a lot of parties or work in a bar, perhaps this skirt is for you.  Don't get me wrong, I once owned many of these both before and after the age of 40. I never owned this item of clothing as a teenager or younger adult because my father would have whipped my exposed parts with a switch out of the back yard. I did try to wear it once or twice and found, I just shouldn't do that, not ever, not at all. I was so uncomfortable with the thought that someone may see my lady parts even if they were covered with pretty panties.

Thing is, just last week I saw someone that I know who is just slightly younger than myself, (I'm closer to 50 than I am 40) wearing a skirt very similar to the one below. I was shocked that she chose to wear this to a family meeting where her children would look upon her and see what she was wearing as something to be proud of or not, who knows.

I couldn't figure out if this woman was just a victim of poor clothing choices or was she looking for attention?  Needless to say this skirt got her lots of attention. She may view it as positive, I see it as more negative.

I no longer own skirts like these.  I do have one or two jean skirts that probably have 1 1/2 to 2 inches added on these and I have to say they are rarely worn.  There is no question that my tastes have changed over the years. While I like to think I still have it going on, I like to be a little more tasteful in showing it.  My personal rule? If you're over the age of forty, this skirt really shouldn't be worn, especially if you want people to take you seriously.  And if you're guilty of wearing this skirt over the age of forty, keep in mind that the bottom half will likely not match the top half of your aging face. Even makeup can't hide everything. For me, the younger girls can have this one.

Monday Maxi

I'm loving this Maxi skirt. I feel so comfortable I really don't want to take it off.  I believe one of the best inventions known to women besides the wrap dress is the Maxi dress and skirt.  It felt like something you want to wear on the weekend, but it could still be dressed up a bit for work.  Have a look and tell me what you think.

Palm Desert

When my daughter called me last Monday and asked if I wanted to go with her to Palm Springs for the weekend, my answer was an emphatic "Yes".  I'm a procrastinator of the worst sort so I thought, "I have plenty of time to pack." Before long I found myself running around the house throwing things in a carry all not really paying attention to what I had in the bag. As long as I remembered my underwear, I was good.  Not so. C wanted to enjoy some fine French dining on Friday night and it was then that I realized I had nothing decent to wear.  I had thrown in my bag an assortment of tops and shorts but nothing dressy enough to go to such a fancy dinner.  "No worries", C said, "we'll just pop by Target."

This ensemble isn't really dressy. It's sort of dressy casual. Considering the heat in the desert, I wanted something that allowed my skin to breathe.  So I chose a maxi skirt, clean white tank and the sandals I wore down there.

It wasn't until after dinner that I remembered we needed to take pics. That accounts for the bad lighting and hotel room shots.

While these items were on sale, the price was still a little more than I would normally pay.  An inexpensive ensemble still, it did the trick.  Tank, skirt and earrings-Target, sandals-ShoeDazzle.

For Saturday, it was Italian food across the way at another hotel. Since we were walking I chose to wear something simple again.  Whatever I wore, it had to be light and airy because the heat was still unbearable. And after a full day by the pool, I needed some cooling off, can you tell?

It's Mimi Time

I have a guest to post with today.  It's my granddaughter "I".  She calls me Mimi.  I love it and I've missed her so much since she's moved to the East coast.  It has been really warm in these parts this past week and I decided yesterday to go with some of those light colors hanging in my closet.  There aren't many of course as today I'm back in black. Isn't that a song?  Anyways I felt light and comfortable in this ensemble but truth be told I'm really not crazy over the pants.  They make my butt look huge and well that always turns a girl off, doesn't it?
