Finding Inspiration

No, I'm not scratching my head. Just trying to loosen my curls.

Sometimes I find myself perusing many a website for inspiration and guidance.  The tasking could take just minutes or sometimes hours.  Looking for inspiration got a bit easier when I discovered Pinterest.  Now I spend a lot of time pinning and re-pinning outfits I want to copy or refashion.  There are so many fashion bloggers out there that finding inspiration can be both uber easy and lickity split or troublesome and time consuming.  Many of the fashion bloggers I follow have already done the work for me.  Typically if I like their style, I find they've already pinned something I like and want to use as inspiration as well.  So, todays outfit inspiration came from Audrey's re-pinned outfit on her Pinterest page.  You can follow me on Pinterest by clicking here.

Green and Grey

 You like my messy doo?
Ok, I cleaned it up a bit.
Sometimes I crack myself up! When I'm trying so hard to get a good photo of the days outfit, well, it just doesn't always work out the way you want it to. I had planned to wear this jacket, shirt, heels and black skinnies. But then I came across a pair of green skinnies I bought a while back. I've never had the guts to wear them.  Well, here they are because today was the day.  Aren't you green with envy?

McD's and Fashion?

With today's planned outfit, I can honestly say trying on your clothing prior to taking blog photos is an absolute must!  Trust me, I can't say it enough.  I almost went to work dressed like this.  Just have a look and you will see what I mean.  It wasn't until after I took this photo that I realized this outfit would be better represented by the McDonald's corporation.

The outfit was still kind of cute;perhaps if I had just left the belt out?  So after seeing this photograph I decided a change was in order.  I wanted to wear the red skirt again, so I simply paired it with a gray striped tee from Target. Much better results I think.  So please excuse my earlier fau paux in mixing the wrong colors.  I'm still learning .
I like this pairing much better.  Lucky for me my office environment dictates that semi-dressy casual is just fine.
What's that you say?  You like my Steve Madden pumps?  Yeah, me too!

Have a look at my newest piece of jewelry.

Neutral Heaven

This outfit didn't quite turn out to be what I had planned.  I recently read an article that stated when putting yourself together it's a good idea to think far enough in advance so the outfit you choose will work the first time you put it on.  I attempted to do that last night.  In my first pic you can see what I planned to wear.  I carefully laid everything out right down to the accessories.  I thought to myself, "yeah, this will save me tons of time."  Ok, ok, while I can admit it did save me some time, it didn't quite measure up to a ton.  I can only wish.  I failed to read the whole article which after doing so I realized I missed a very crucial part of the process; trying everything on.

After walking out of my bedroom and looking in the full length mirror, I could see there was some tweaking to do.  Gap jean jacket was replaced with cropped Old Navy dark wash jean jacket.  I said goodbye to the scarf and gold watch chain.  Replaced them with my trusty DIY silver pendant necklace.  Went to work for most of the day only to realize the jean jacket was entirely too hot.  Lucky for me I had an overnight bag with a shirt or two in the back of my car.  Imagine my excitement when I pulled this shirt out of the bag. I was so grateful I had something in the bag that matched besides a white wife beater.

A much cooler option would have been my chambray shirt, but hey, beggars can't be choosy.  I know putting together neutrals is an easy thing to do, but putting this outfit together was a challenge for me.  I was looking for balance to the long maxi skirt I wore as a dress.  The jean jacket looked ok, but it didn't give me exactly what I was looking for.  This shirt gave me balance.
